Duplex apartments are less common in Fuengirola than in the resort towns, simply because so much of the centro is dense single-floor stock — which makes the ones that exist worth knowing about. They turn up most often in the larger residential blocks of Torreblanca and Doña Sofía and in the newer builds towards the Higuerón, two storeys with an internal stair and often a roof terrace. They suit a buyer who wants house-like volume and a separate sleeping floor without giving up the lock-and-leave ease of an apartment a short walk from the beach.
